Kala Chana Sabji- Spicy Curry made Whole Bengal Gram

Pre Prep

Pressure Cook the soaked kala chana till they are cooked

Making Masala

  • This is the most important part of the dish which will add taste and give it a coarse texture
  • In a blender- add onions, ginger, chilli, garlic mustard seeds and blend to a thick paste.Don’t add water

Making Gravy

  • In a kadhai add oil, add jeera/cumin seeds and after 2-3 seconds add the masala paste.
  • Cook this on low heat for 3 minutes sprinkle water if required.It should not burn and should be partially cooked
  • Add dry spices and cooked
  • Add tomato sauce or finely chopped tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.cover with lid
  • Add the boiled kala chana and cook for 5 minutes
  • Now add the leftover water from the pressure cooked kala chana and mix well
  • Add garam masala powder and salt and Let this cook for 10 minutes
  • Turn off the heat and add chopped coriander

Serve this warm with Chappati
